In The Beginning... There Was Def Leppard!
Neal, for your birthday, I'd like to suggest we all take a moment to reflect upon one of the songs that resides in the foundation of all of our rock and roll music explorations. This video is almost as awesome as the song.
There is one of the extra Fox channels that do what MTV should be doing...playing videos. I saw this one not too long ago. In retrospect, the video is much better than the song...and better is not really a compliment comparatively. It is, though, awesomely nostalgic.
Ah, yes!!! One of the ones that started it all! This immediately takes me back to the times we would air-guitar with tennis rackets every time we'd see these guys or Metallica or Mötley Crüe on MTV. I must admit that the CGI in this video definitely pales in comparison to the advances made twenty years since. I'm not sure I can speak for everyone, but I imagine this was a lot cooler to us back then due to the Bart Simpson-ish nature of the lyrics; though now that we're older we find it pretty corny and juvenile. I still like the song a lot, though, and can't help but reminisce in a good way; after all, we owe it to Def Leppard, Metallica, and Motley Crue for being our initiation into rock and heavy metal.
